We gladly offer this reprint of that original in light of its substantial relevance… and scholarship. In the first, Dr. Hort investigates the textual and patristic evidence surrounding the last verse in the Prologue to St. John's Gospel (1:18) in the hope of substantiating its seminal importance to the doctrine of Christ's ''perfect and eternal Sonship within the Godhead.'' Building upon this treatise, the second dissertation delves into the development of the ''Greek Creeds'' in the Church's fourth century (some you'll know, some you won't) and the way each interpreted and expounded the nature of the Son's place in the Trinity. Particularly rare specimens include the Creeds of Cappadocia, Antioch, Mesopotamia and Philadelphia.
