Dieser retrospektiv angelegte Katalog zeigt das Werk einer der Pionierinnen der Porträtfotografie entlang ihrer wichtigsten Lebensstationen, beginnend mit ihrer frühen Jugend als Tochter jüdischer Intellektueller in Wien bis zu ihrer Zeit als führende Society-Fotografin in Wien und später in Paris. Thematisiert wird auch ihr Überleben während des Holocaust sowie ihre Fotografien von Flüchtlingen aus der Zeit nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und schließlich eine Reihe von so bemerkenswerten wie schockierenden Bildern, in denen sie die Pariser Schlachthöfe dokumentierte.
