Paperback. Condition: New. 2026 Association of Catholic Publishers first place award in theologyExplore the historical and theological roots of a synodal church and where the path of a new, inclusive listening church leads. How can the church continue to grow in a more synodal-more participative, open-minded, inclusive, and spiritual-ecclesial style? Now that the Synod on Synodality (2021-2024) has ended, Kristin Colberg and Jos Moons begin to answer this key question in essential ways. In The Future of Synodality, they present key aspects of synodality's origins, its theological foundations, and its recent expressions. They offer important takeaways from the synod in the context of looking toward the future, exploring the concrete transformations of a church marked by inclusive listening. Embracing the style of synodality as the church's usual practice, the authors outline the three types of transformation required: a renewal of attitudes and behavior, a reform of ecclesial structures and procedures, and the adoption of synodal practices. The Synod on Synodality has changed the church. This book helps us understand this historic moment and learn how to walk on the synodal path toward a new beginning.

While belief in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is at the very core of the Christian faith, the significance of the Spirit in particular is sometimes overlooked in faith practice and theological reflection, resulting in what theologians call Geistvergessenheit. In this context, Lumen Gentium, one of the most important documents of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), is usually praised for its pneumatological renewal. The current volume, however, argues that this renewal is no more than modest. The Holy Spirit is still conceived of predominantly as an adjunct to Christ. To substantiate that claim, Jos Moons has developed a novel method of close reading on the basis of which he compares Lumen gentium's conception of the Spirit to that of Mystici corporis (1943). He also analyses the redaction-historical development of the former and concludes with a plea to envisage the Spirit more boldly: as actively guiding the church, especially by means of the sensus fidelium, its charisms and the discernment of spirits.
Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - This book focuses on the crucial role of teaching in the process of tradition. The various essays present case studies, written by specialists in the field, on themes drawn from the biblical, Jewish and Christian practice of 'tradition', the passing on of faith from generation to generation. Underlying these essays is the conviction that teaching is a privileged context for the study of tradition, since it always both preserves and renews tradition. There is no tradition without teaching, in which the past is interpreted in the present and the present is seen in the light of the past. Contributors are: Jan Bouwens, Rob V.J. Faesen, Leon Mock, Jos Moons, Krijn Pansters, Henk J. M. Schoot, Rudi A. te Velde, Archibald L. H. M. van Wieringen, and Ruben J. van Wingerden.
