There may be an occasional instance of underling through the rest of the book. S. M. Edwardes was responsible for the fourth edition revisions. From Wikipedia: "Vincent Arthur Smith, CIE, (18481920) was an Irish Indologist and art historian.e passed the Indian Civil Services exam in 1871 and was appointed to what would become the United Provinces in India. He would go to serve between 18711900 in a variety of magisterial and executive positions including terms as district and sessions judge eventually retiring as commissioner in July 1900. By 1910 Smith was settled in Oxford where he joined St. John's College and was appointed a Curator of the Indian Institute. After his return to England, Smith wrote books on various rulers such as the Hindu emperor, Ashoka and the Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a history of fine arts in India and Ceylon. He also published two comprehensive volumes on Indian history, The Early History of India and The Oxford History of India." Stephen Meredyth Edwardes (1873-1927 ) was himself the author f over 50 works on the subject. Every effort is made to ship all books and other items within 24 hours. A clean and sturdy copy. Sir Henry Lawrence, a man of exceptional talent and ability, (1806-1857) wrote a number of essays and books on Indian subjects but is probably best remembered for his administrative ability, his energy, his sympathies with the Indian aristocracy, his high character and his tragic death in the siege of Lucknow.
