Aber auch der Umfang und "die teilweise unnötigen Ausschweifungen" veranlassten Krebs, das Werk nun in einer strafferen Form zu präsentieren. Durch die Notwendigkeit des Werks bei Vorlesungen ließ Krebs schon Jahrzehnte früher Teile ins Dänische übertragen; durch weitere Veränderungen nun sieht Krebs in seinem Vorwort diese Ausgabe gleichwohl als eine zweite, verbesserte Ausgabe gegenüber dieser dänischen. Plates with creased edges, some fold and some foxing. Pages with occasional foxing and creasing to edges. Contemporary notes to ca. 10 pages in vol. I. * Karl August Struensee (1735-1804) was professor of mathematics and minister of finance in Prussia. He travelled to Denmark in 1771 to join his brother Johann Friedrich Strunesee, and was made head of financial administration. Johann Friedrich had via his assistance to the Danish king Christian VII made his way into the very center of power - and into the Queens bed. A number of reforms was put in motion on Johann Friedrich Struensee's intiative, most radical perhaps: freedom from censorship. Conservative nobility felt their power weaken and in January the brothers were arrested. Karl August was realeased after six months. While he was later knighted in both Denmark and Prussia his brother Johann Friedrich was beheaded in April 1772.
