Hardcover. Condition: New. Taken across Georgia, then later in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, Jörg Rubbert's photographs are 'a call to action, a powerful plea for the historical legacy they document to be embraced'. With brief notes on each area's social history, the 150 or so images capture the impact of the economic downturn of the early 21st century, depicting second-hand stores and pawnshops, deserted towns and decaying buildings, but also the glory of a faded past.

Hardback. Condition: New. Bilingual. A vibrant visual journey through Italy from 1978 to 1986, Jörg Rubbert's analog photographs capture everyday life across Italian cities and the countryside with empathy and authenticity. Using classic Kodachrome film, Rubbert documents scenes in Florence, Venice, Pisa, Sicily, Calabria, Apulia, Elba, and the Italian Riviera. His candid street photography focuses on ordinary people-retirees, children, nuns, workers-presenting evocative snapshots of a society on the cusp of change. Inspired by Italian neorealist cinema and the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini, these images reflect both nostalgia and transformation, revealing the spirit of "la dolce vita" amid shifting social realities. Timeless, unmanipulated, and deeply human, this collection offers an intimate time capsule of Italy's urban and rural life, seen through the lens of a curious outsider.

Hardback. Condition: New. Jörg Rubbert's series of photos about Paris, taken over a period of 30 years between 1988 and 2019, views the city and its people from different perspectives. His images feature bourgeois neighbourhoods and majestic public squares as well as run-down areas and famous red-light districts. Rubbert focuses both on the city's unique atmosphere and on its residents. He consistently makes use of analogue photography without digital add-ons, exclusively relying on natural light. With their dense atmosphere, blurred focus, high contrasts, and in some cases grainy appearance, Rubbert's photos are "imperfect" in the best sense of the word, taking on an almost painterly quality. His images approach their subject from two different angles. They show Paris, with its striking architecture and picturesque atmosphere, through the lens of accentuated nostalgia, yet they also shine a light on people's lives and the city's current social condition. In a demonstration that the streets still form the real stage of the "theatre of life," they put a spotlight on the seemingly trivial stories of everyday life.Text in English, German and French.

Hardback. Joerg Rubbert, Benteli Verlag. Many times over a period of ten years, Joerg Rubbert has traveled the suburban and urban spaces between Georgia, Mississippi and Texas, documenting them with his medium format camera. Small town idylls at first glance are revealed on closer inspection to be the forgotten remnants of times long past. The faded glory of the "Good Old South" is captured here, both in its morbid beauty and as a manifestation of the ephemeral. The intense colors in the images, which capture the southern sunlight, seem to jar uncomfortably with the "gray" reality they portray. Yet they act as a powerful plea not to allow the buildings and infrastructure of these places to be wholly abandoned, a call to truly embrace the historic legacy they embody. Hardback.

352 pp. Englisch.
