Hardback. Condition: New. Relationships between architects and clients - built upon expressed values, as well as their import into the final work of architecture - are typically not discussed in architectural education, rarely considered in architectural criticism or theory, and usually missing in most writing about architecture…. This monograph seeks to highlight and address this deficiency. The book focuses on the process that the firm uses to help their clients to define values, and to intone them through architectural design. Exquisitely presented throughout, this volume presents a range of built and in-process works at a variety of scales, complexity, and locations, with various clients. Most of these projects have not been previously published. The projects will be documented and discussed within the context of the value proposition and design process that distinguish Pickard Chilton's approach to architecture.

Jenny Chan is principal of New York-based design studio Jack Design, whose clients include Yale University Press, Rizzoli Electa, Princeton University Press, Yale University Art Gallery, Yale Center for British Art, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Brandywine River Museum of Art, and the Florence Griswold Museum. Chan has a BA in comparative literature from Brown University (1985) and an MFA in graphic design from the Yale School of Art (1995). After receiving her MFA, she remained at Yale University for two years as Lecturer in the Department of Graphic Design. Prior to becoming a graphic designer, she worked in film and television production as well as in magazine photography direction. A stunning, highly illustrated monograph showcasing the work of renowned architecture firm Pickard Chilton, with a focus on designs of projects that have not been previously published. Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Unpaginated. Near Fine, internally clean, solid hard cover first printing in a complete Near Fine dust jacket. Basically 150 or so color pictures of a really big office building complex with a few literary quotes tossed in from Wordsworth, Emerson and,… oddly enough, Ezra Pound. I would love to tour the building with Ezra Pound. There is no actual text but we get the message that these are highly intellectual architects. This is a big heavy book, a foot high and eleven inches across, that was probably distributed by Pickard Chilton to prospective clients.
