Magnifico esemplare. Nella seconda metà del cinquecento Etienne Du Pérac, grande architetto francese nato a Parigi verso il 1525 visse alcuni anni a Roma, certamente tra il 1559 e il 1578, forse anche sino al 1582, e disegnò, fra l'altro, un gruppo di antichità romane. Questi finissimi disegni, corredati da un testo manoscritto compongono un Codice prezioso che, dopo lunghe vicende, è giunto a noi. I disegni, di altissima fattura, sono quarantasei, alcuni dei quali su doppia pagina, tutti racchiusi in cornici ornamentali di grande pregio e differenti fra loro. E' stata fatta una accurata trascrizione del testo, purtroppo parzialmente danneggiato, e dal tempo e da ignoti, pubblicato separatamente in un fascicolo. Di fondamentale interesse per gli studiosi della materia sarà l'introduzione del Prof. R. Wittkower, titolare della cattedra di Storia dell'Arte della Columbia University di New York, che da anni si occupa dei problemi architettonici dell'Italia e in particolare di Roma.  . Book.

Antoine (Antonio) Lafreri a publié en 1560 le recueil Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae comportant des cartes et des dessins représentant les monuments les plus connus de la Rome antique. Cette planche est la première planche dune série de trois planches, représentant des animaux inspirés des peintures murales antiques, éditées à Rome en 1547. Sur cette estampe sont représentés un éléphant, un lion, un taureau, etc. Planche avec la marge rognée, contrecollée sur papier postérieur, petits manques au coin inférieur gauche, et près du coin inférieur droit, petites réparations à l'extrémité inférieure du coté droit, ansi que sur le coin supérieur droit.
