Primera edición, noviembre de 2013. «Quien mejor que yo puede retalar esta hermosa istoria [sic]», se afirma a sí mismo Roberto P…arra ante la empresa de escribir una biografía sobre su más famosa hermana. Pero luego duda, y hasta se culpa: «yo creia como mesalio el chiripaso de la negra ester. que ya podia crusar el canal dela mancha. y tirarirme el tremendo carril. y meba saliendo el tiro por la culata. no savia con que chicha me estaba curando el perla queria escrivir nada meno que la viografia de violeta parra. que se yo de esta maravilloso mujer. esto sellama patudes». Así, a tirones y en círculos, a través de ortografía y puntuación insumisas (preservada por el editor Miguel Naranjo tal como en los manuscritos), avanza este intento inconcluso de biografía en décimas y en prosa que, además del valor testimonial de un cercano admirador de la genial artista chilena, expone en su frescura y entrañable ingenuidad el estilo literario de Roberto Parra, otro poeta popular con mérito propio. Aunque hay recuerdos valiosos de la infancia y juventud de esa hermana mayor, inaccesibles para un investigador (el relato abarca los años previos a su consolidación como autora), no debe buscarse en el relato la referencia fáctica, sino valorar precisamente el esfuerzo del autor por ordenar la mezcla de memoria y afecto profundo que lo motiva. Son textos tomados de diez cuadernos escritos hacia principios de los años noventa (aunque sin fecha exacta), y en cuya sucesión más que agregarse información complementaria, parece que va como corrigiéndose el escrito previo. Por eso hay repeticiones y también variantes de una misma anécdota, y luego la desviación desde el relato central a un intento de dramatización con un diálogo imaginado entre Violeta Parra, el mismo Roberto y la madre de ambos, Clara Sandoval (es asimismo en extremo llamativa la cita a la famosa "Defensa de Violeta Parra", de Nicanor, en la más pura ortografía robertística). No es éste el primer libro de un familiar cercano sobre la universal autora de "Gracias a la vida" (además de las publicaciones de dos de sus hijos, existe este relato en décimas de su hermano Lalo), pero sí el más peculiar por su tono, forma y cariñosa poética: naciste predestinada violeta de los camino para cantarle adestino con el alma deseolada con tu guitarra tallada juiste queresiendo enel canpo con olorsito asilantro arromero yerba guena entremedio de bervena baila el viento contucanto. Since the late twentieth century, rural and indigenous producers in LA, including agriculturists, coffee-growers, a…s well as small-scale farmers/fishers, and others, have had to resist, cope with, or adapt to a range of neoliberal socio-environmental regimes that impact their territories and associated resources, including water, production systems and ultimately their cultural traditions. In response, rural producers are using local visions and innovation niches to decide what, when, and how to resist, cope with uncertainty, and still be successful in using their customary laws to retain their land rights and livelihoods.This book presents a range of ethnically diverse case studies from LA, which addresses socio-environmental, educational, and law regimes effects usingtransdisciplinary research approaches in rural, traditional and indigenous production systems. Based on both, the results and insights gained into how producers are resisting and adapting to these regimes, as well as decades of research carried out in LA rural territories by the participating authors, the book puts forward a baseline for devising new public policies that are better suited to the real challenges of livelihoods, poverty, and environmental degradation in LA. These recommendations are rooted in post-development thinking; they promote territorial public policy with social inclusion and a humans rights approach. The book draws on over 20 years of research carried out by LAs academics and their undergraduate and graduate students who have addressed collaborative work, participatory research, and transdisciplinary approaches with rural commons and communities in LA. It features 19 case studies, with contributions from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, and Mexico.
