About The Author: Alka Parikh, PhD in Development Economics from Cornell University , USA, is working as an Associate Professor at D.A. Institute of Information and Communication T echnology (DAIICT). She has also documented some experiments to address the food security. Alka Parikh has experience of working with academic, corporate and NGO sectors. At present, she is a trustee for an NGO and a joint director of Sarvang Utkarsh, a health mutual. She has also been Head of Center for Disaster Management and Associate Co ordinator for Center for Human Development at Mumbai University in the past.
