CD in Fold-out Card-case. Condition: Fine Minus. Werner Durand (reed instruments and traditional self-built) and Victor Meertens (electric guitars and percussion plus e-bows) offer "Hornbread"- their debut album - evolving from intense live activity that saw them perform in several events dedicated to music of experimentation and acoustical research. Here are five long improvisations that "trace routes to unknown destinations", titled: Hornbread, Honey Too, Breadman, Dough, and Crust. They reflect "an expansion of sound, penetrating and hypnotic, as a minimalist suite that occasionally is colored by darting rhythmic textural juxtapositions. Duration 73 minutes. CONDITION: A Fine uncompromised CD and booklet with a Fine Minus card-case (just slight bumping to outer corners). - played twice, plays perfectly. Why pay more just for shrink-wrap? Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. There's more to Iggy Pop than The Stooges, wild tales, and the occasional 'Lust For Life' sync in a commercial. Much of his solo career, spanning decades of reckless reinvention, is often overlooked, reduced to a handful of hits or dismissed as a footnote to his incendiary past. But there's a vast world to explore: the sheer variety of musical styles, the energy, the humour, the vivid imagery, the sharp social critique, the highs, the misfires, the unexpected detours and his collaborations with some of music's biggest names. This book takes a deep dive into Iggy's solo output from 1977 to 1999, exploring every album track by track. It unpacks the music, lyrics, influences and the stories behind them. Fact-driven yet opinionated, it draws from interviews, archival material and trivia to analyse the evolution of America's ultimate rock'n'roll outlaw. Whether he is crooning over icy synths, bellowing over raw guitars, or delivering deadpan one-liners with a smirk, Iggy has never stopped moving. This is the sound of his journey. AUTHOR: Hans Meertens is a Dutch artist, writer and illustrator who studied art in York (UK), Ghent (BE) and Utrecht (NL), honing his craft through residencies in New York City. His work has been exhibited internationally and features in private, museum and corporate collections. A former art teacher in Amsterdam, he now also mentors art academy students with ASD or ADHD, and volunteers with the foundation Drawing for Children. As a hobby, he fronts the post-rock band Spiritbox, with recordings available on streaming platforms. An early admiration for David Bowie led him to the work of Iggy Pop, whose music, alongside that of Lou Reed and Nick Cave, he holds in enduring esteem. This book takes a deep dive into Iggy Pop's solooutput from 1977 to 1999, exploring every album track by track Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Trade Paperback. Later printing. A paperback copy in very good condition with a lamination flaw to the spine, otherwise a very nice copy. Clean inside. No highlighting or underlining. The years 1945-1965 saw heavy partisan conflict in the rural areas of Colombia, with at least 200,000 people killed. This virtual civil war began as a sectarian conflict between the Liberal and Conservative parties, with rural workers (campesinos) constituting the majority of combatants and casualties. Yet La Violencia resists classification as a social uprising, since calls for social reform were largely absent during this phase of the struggle. In fact, once the elite leadership settled on a power-sharing agreement in 1958, the conflict appeared to subside. This book focuses on the second phase (1958-1965) of the struggle, in which the social dimensions of the conflict emerged in a uniquely Colombian form: the campesinos, shaped by the earlier violence, became social and political bandits, no longer acting exclusively for powerful men above them but more in defense of the peasantry. In comparing them with other regional expressions of bandolerismo, the authors weigh the limited prospects for the evolution of Colombian banditry into full-scale social revolution. Published originally in 1983 as Bandoleros, gamonales y campesinos and now updated with a new epilogue, this book makes a timely contribution to the discourse on social banditry and the Colombian violencia. Its importance rests in the insights it provides not only on the period in question but also on Colombia's present situation.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. CONSTELLATION HEROES traces David Bowie's 1977 album as the centre of a wider orbit: a charged zone of resonance and cultural signal. Analytical, imaginative and historically attuned, the book maps a web of connections from Chris Burden to Blackstar, from Tokyo to German Expressionism, from Cold War unease back to Bromley. Framed by Bowie's Berlin era, it unfolds track by track, linking sonic detail to lyrical shape and production to artistic intent, following the currents that infused the record. It explores the modernist artefact as a site of fracture and invention, between East and West, past and future, voice and persona. It considers how meaning unfolds through sound and staging, language and gesture, and how Bowie channels temporal tension into a force both intimate and unstable. Rather than fixing its meaning, it opens multiple pathways through the album, allowing Heroes to emerge as luminous and unresolved. For readers drawn to Bowie's Berlin years, including The Idiot, Low, Lust For Life, Lodger and the Isolar II Tour, this is an immersive and deeply considered inquiry into one of his most enduring creative periods. Heroes becomes a prism of identity and dislocation, still transmitting from the city that shaped it: volatile, elusive, alive. AUTHOR: Hans Meertens is a Dutch artist, writer and illustrator whose work is shown internationally and held in private, museum and corporate collections. He studied fine art in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, and refined his practice through residencies in New York City. After teaching art in Amsterdam, he now mentors art academy students with additional support needs, volunteers with the foundation Drawing for Children, and makes music on the side in a post-rock band. He is the author of On Track Iggy Pop 19771999: Every Album, Every Song, a detailed survey of Iggy's solo output from that era. A long-time admirer of David Bowie, he turns his focus in this book to a defining work at the heart of his enduring fascination with Bowie's universe. CONSTELLATION HEROES is a track-by-track exploration of David Bowies 1977 album Heroes, one of the most forceful and elusive records of his career. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condition: New. CONSTELLATION "HEROES" is a track-by-track exploration of David Bowie's 1977 album "Heroes", one of the most forceful and elusive records of his career. Combining lyric interpretation, studio history, cultural context and legacy, the book examines how the record was made, what shaped its songs, and why it still resonates. The chapters move from the album's abrasive opening tracks through the instrumental sequence and into the bonus material, drawing the divided city outside the studio into Bowie's restless collage of language, sound and image.    For readers drawn to the late-1970s arc that runs from The Idiot, Low and Lust For Life through the Isolar II Tour and Lodger, this is an immersive and deeply considered inquiry into the creative world surrounding "Heroes". Discerning, imaginative and historically attuned, the book traces a web of connections from Chris Burden to Blackstar, from Tokyo to German Expressionism, from Cold War unease back to Bromley. Framed by Bowie's Berlin era, it follows the currents that infused the album and offers the most expansive and searching reading of "Heroes" to date, a record still transmitting.'A sharp and impressive quest through the many layers of "Heroes". A must for any Bowie lover.' - Eduard Meyer, sound engineer at Hansa Studios 1976-2003.'A fascinating study of Bowie's creative process, bringing an almost forensic insight into the ideas and influences behind the music.' - Kevin Armstrong, guitarist with Bowie at Live Aid1985 and beyond.
