Then follows a series of poems which document the relentless misery that so often has to be endured after the fracturing of an intimate relationship by 'the other'. The effects of being 'dumped' are conveyed very clearly indeed. The reader will note repetitive themes that are characteristic of this kind of raw protracted agony. The later poems document the rising out of this state and feeling a person again, in touch with a sense of self and looking outwards into life. The poems in this book give a voice to much that is unspoken, unspeakable, or has no words. They are a remarkable expression of dwelling in a state of love, of the agony of being abandoned, of sinking into despair, and of becoming able to look out into life again.
