A first edition of copy of this fascinating and copiously illustrated work on the flora of Gloucestershire: exploring the geology, climate, vegetation, woodlands, agriculture and flora of this abundant county. This work was published by the Cotteswold Naturalists' Field Club, a society devoted to the natural history, geology, archaeology, and history of the Cotswolds, England. Collated complete with forty three plates, a coloured frontispiece plate, and two folding black and white maps. This copy is also complete with four coloured folding maps in the gusset pocket tipped to the rear pastedown. In the publisher's original bright blue cloth binding with gilt title to spine and charming spotted textblock. Externally, minor shelfwear to extremities and slight bumping to head and tail of spine. Front hinge split after frontispiece plate. Prior owner's contemporary ink inscription to front free-endpaper, dated '22 October 1948'. Evidence of plates tipped to pastedowns, now removed. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities but bright and clean throughout. The odd light spot to endpapers. Very Good Indeed. book.
