First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Evanston, IL: Clark Publishing Company, 1954. The December, 1954 issue of Fate Magazine (issue no. 57) in Raymond A. Palmer's now-legendary paranormal-reporting non-fiction enterprise, which began with, in its first issue, Kenneth Arnold's cover account of flying crescents which "skipped like saucers across a pond", an event which, for whatever reason, kicked off the modern era of UFO events. After that, Fate introduced countless events which remain, to this day, fodder for paranormal documentaries and investigation. 12mo, illustrated perfect-bound wraps, 130 pp. A Near Fine copy - and this one is as near fine as near fine gets, with just touch micro-edgewear. See scans. Highest Grade, particularly for a periodical which often shows substantial wear from use. This issue features articles on The Golden Inca, Aldous Huxley, Dowsing, Precognition, Ghosts, the Mollasian Dogs, the Moodus Noises, and of course much else, including the standard Departments, always engrossing in themselves. Interior art and photography is largely uncredited. A piece of paranormal history, and an example of a unique branch of Americana, in very highly collectible condition. l49n.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. What would you become to save what you love?In a dense jungle landscape teeming with perils, 18-year-old Faylen finds the real threat lurks beneath his skin. His people's ancient power allows them to mimic the untamed creatures of their surroundings. However, when it is Faylen's turn to take on the claws, speed, and superhuman strength of his ancestors, he feels a darker presence accompanies them. While Faylen battles internally, he faces a dangerous coming-of-age rite: the Hunter Trials, filled with dizzying chases across titan-filled woods and brutal blood duels for coveted acclaim. As his generation proves itself in this unruly game, the world beyond his secluded village simmers to a boil. Four other bloodlines also command their own unique and devastating powers, and today, despite a heavily regulated era of peace, old alliances are quietly rekindling in faraway lands. As the threat encroaches on his quiet woodland home, Faylen realizes he must become stronger to protect his people. The only way he knows how is by reaching further into the jungle's ferocity than any have before. But if he digs too deeply for that power, what might claw its way out? First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 832 pages + plates. 11 colour plates (2 fold-out) : 30 cm. Summary:Chums was established as a boys' weekly paper in 1892 by Cassell & Company, in direct competition with The Boy's Own Paper which had been launched thirteen years earlier. It attracted readers with tales of daring and adventure such as Max Pemberton's 'The Iron Pirate' and Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island'; these stories, interspersed with competitions, editorials and rich illustrations, earned Chums considerable popularity. The publication was also notable for its sponsorship of the National Naval Cadets, for which it served as an enrolment tool from 1909, and of the British Boy Scouts. In 1927 Cassell & Company sold Chums to The Amalgamated Press, already known in the field for their publication of Schoolgirl's Weekly and The Modern Boy. In July 1932 it was reduced to monthly circulation, and two years later reduced again to an annual. Publication finally ceased in September 1941 with the onset of wartime paper shortages.
