Las colaboraciones que se presentan en este libro no pretenden re-editar o evocar las controversias entabladas en el siglo XIX en torno a la máquina de vapor y la electricidad, a pesar de que somos personas del milenio pasado tratando de comprender el universo tecnológico comunicacional y espiritual que hoy está en la cibercultura (que no es sólo Internet, sino la realidad virtual, la inteligencia artificial, los juegos interactivos, etc.). Hoy como ayer, la aceleración tecnológica modificó notablemente las relaciones sociales, políticas, económicas y culturales en la vida pública y privada. ¿Cómo nos apropiamos de la posibilidad tecnológica que nos brinda hoy una comunicación generalizada y convergente?
