Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Beyond Environment presents the potent interchange between architecture, Land Art, and Performance Art that emerged through Italian architect Gianni Pettena's idealized collaboration with American artists Allan Kaprow and Robert Smithson in the 1970s. Captivated by a journey to the USA in 1971, Pettena would converse with the American Midwest, a conversation culminating in his meeting with Robert Smithson in Salt Lake City. Earlier in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pettena's experiments in material trans- formations helped create some of the architect's most iconic works. Staged in an abandoned school and in a non-descriptive suburban house, and titled Ice House I and II, Pettena would pour water into the mold works he created around the buildings' perimeter walls. Curing during the winter night to a coat of ice, the houses resonated with their conceptual predecessor, Kaprow's Fluids of 1967, as well as with an incomparable contemporary architectural sensibly concerned with the effects of variedly compounded, highly eidetic archi- tectural surfaces.Emanuele Piccardo is an architect and a curator working from Genoa, Italy; Amit Wolf is an architect, curator, and Lecturer at Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles. With contributions and works of Peter Cook, Allan Kaprow, Robert Smithson, Gordon Matta Clark, Superarchitecture; and interviews with Gianni Pettena, Ugo La Pietra, Lapo Binazzi, Fabio Sargentini. A new architectural sensibility developed by Gianni Pettena through incorporations of art and architecture, bourgeoning youth culture and the discotheque Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Brossura. Condition: new. English Text.Busalla, 2023; paperback, pp. 244, cm 15x21. There are many books about the work of Gordon Matta-Clark, dissecting him much like he dissected New York, Genoa, and Paris buildings. However, this research arises from a need, that of reaffirming the centrality of Genoa and Paris in his work, with two iconic pieces, A W-Hole House and Conical Intersect, realized in 1973 and 1975. In this two case studies he synthesized his idea of art and society. This is achieved through a layered investigation of documents, letters, photographs, drawings, and direct testimonies from central figures in GMC's life: his assistant and friend Gerry H. Hovagimyan, his wife Jane Crawford, photographer Carol Goodden, curator Jean-Hubert Martin, photographer Marc Petitjean, and Genoese gallerist Paolo Minetti. The direct testimonies collected in the form of horal history, from 2013 until today, enable a cross-sectional reading of events and stories, between New York, Genoa, and Paris. In this stories emerges GMC's empathy towards places and people. The two projects in Genoa and Paris share several analogies. Libro.

Brossura. Condition: new. English Text.Busalla, 2025; paperback, pp. 388, b/w and col. ill., cm 22x22. American Frontier: Experiments in the Desert, a project curated by Emanuele Piccardo and Luca Guido, organized by the cultural association plug_in.aims to demonstrate, for the first time, how architecture, photography, painting, cinema, and art have, at different times, identified the frontier as a field of action to chart new lines of inquiry in the emptiness of the desert. This space emerges as a privileged site for ever-new and more extreme experimentation, precisely because the absence of rules fosters a formal eclecticism free from laws and constraints, except for the relationship with the site and the natural context. This approach was embraced by land artists such as Michael Heizer, James Turrell, Charles Ross, Robert Smithson, Nancy Holt, and Dennis Oppenheim, as well as architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Paolo Soleri, John Lautner, Bart Prince, Donald Wexler, and Albert Frey, and photographers including Carleton Watkins, Timothy O. Sullivan, William H. Jackson, Richard Misrach, Lee Friedlander, and Francesco Jodice. Libro.
