The development of both communities over the past 110 years is reflected in this superb collection of more than 200…photographs. As a whole the photographs combine to show the growth of the two communities linked by Rawmarsh Hill. The key role of industry in their development is particularly clear. Iron and steelworks played a vital role in economic growth, attracting- workers and the services to support a growing population. Leisure time was enjoyed to the full, with street parties, parades and sporting activity. Memorable events are recalled, some tragic, some cause for celebration.
