Woodham Brothers' railway dismantling yard at Barry Island, South Wales, became a place of pilgramage for steam starved enthusiasts in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Although it was depressing to realise that few of these magnificent machines would run again left to rust in the salty air blowing in from the Bfistol Channel, a visit to Dai Woodham's scrapyard was a uniquly thrilling opportunity to see at clos quarters in one afternoon as many as 750 locomotives from mighty Pacifics to humble pannier tanks. This is a unique collection of 100 photographs taken at the time, some published here for the first time. This book will be of immense interest to modellers and those with an interest in the history of railways. Ref TT 2.
