His legacy includes works in otolaryngology, orthopedics, ophthalmology neuroanatomy and surgery. Edited by Léveillé, this volume contains two of Scarpa's important works translated into french for the first time : De penitiori ossium structura commentarius and Memoria chirurgica sui piedi torti congenita dei fanciulli. In addition Léveillé had included two of his own works on dislocations of the femur and necroses -- Léveillé, french physician and army surgeon, became a personal friend of Scarpa's while serving with the french army in Italy.
