Entonces, Zaera-Polo demandó a la universidad por difamación. La vigilancia y el control ideológicos de los alumnos terminaron de colmar el vaso. Y el arquitecto le declaró la guerra a Princeton: hizo escalar su reclamación sobre la libertad académica hasta la cima de la jerarquía y recogió durante su periplo todas las pruebas del caso.
