Als eines von zahllosen neuen Stadtprojekten, ist Ordos das größte und größenwahnsinnigste und zugleich dasjenige mit dem schlechtesten Standort: mitten in die Steppe der Inneren Mongolei gebaut, in eine Region fast ohne Wasser und Bäume. Ursprünglich geplant für mindestens eine Millionen Einwohner, haben sich aufgrund harter klimatischer Bedingungen und exorbitanter Preise bisher nur wenige tausend Menschen dort niedergelassen. Es gibt keinerlei Beschäftigung in Ordos, außer der, Ordos zu bauen. Unnachgiebig wachsen Wohntürme in diesem lebensfeindlichen Flachland weiter in die Höhe, während die breiten Straßen im Stadtzentrum leer bleiben. Die Hochhäuser des einst als Geschäftszentrum geplanten Stadtteils sind noch nicht einmal an das Stromnetz angeschlossen. Ordos ist eine riesige Immobilienblase von der Art, die die Wirtschaft eines ganzen Landes ruinieren könnte, doch die chinesische Regierung hält das Trugbild aufrecht. Währenddessen wartet Ordos, die Stadt, in der alles größer und besser ist, noch immer auf das Wichtigste: seine Einwohner.Adrien Golinelli (geb. 1987) lebt und arbeitet in der Schweiz.
