Book, cover considerably worn, soiled. The bottom third of the spine is missing, the bottom half of the cover has come adrift of the binding, and the r…est threatens to separate and take the first sheet, an advertisement for Diamond Chains, with it. Previous owner's name in ink on the front cover and again on the top of the contents page. Blank spaces on a couple of early pages covered in small neat pencil notes. Edge soiling to book block, corners are a bit tipped / worn. Apart from loose cover, binding is sound and tight. Apart from previously noted notes &c., pages are clean and unmarked though strikingly age toned.

From its initial introduction… in 1925 'Speed and How to Obtain It' subsequently progressed through a number of editions and impressions and ultimately became one of the best selling motorcycle 'tune up' books ever. The 'dated information' contained in this publication is considered valuable today by those enthusiasts interested in vintage motorcycle racing, tuning and modification. Consequently, this makes the 1962 8th impression the most complete and desirable edition of this book. While predominantly a technical work, it is written in terms easily understood by the layman.
