This scarce, important book is a pivotal wartime publication that documents the global operations and strategic impact of the Army Air Forces (AAF) during World War II. The report offers a vivid account of the AAF's role in major theaters of war, especially the European and Pacific fronts. It highlights strategic bombing campaigns, tactical air support, and the coordination with Allied forces. It illustrates the worldwide scope of AAF operations, from Europe to Asia, including missions over Germany, Japan, Burma, and the Pacific islands. While centered on the AAF, the report emphasizes that its successes were part of a broader Allied effort, acknowledging the contributions of the Army Ground Forces, Navy, Marine Corps, and Allied air forces. Rather than exhaustive statistics, the report uses representative missions and operations to convey the scale and effectiveness of air power. Ref TT 1.…

Robert Ladd Thorndike (1910 - 1990) was an American psychometrician and educational psychologist who made significant contributions to the analysis of reliability, the interpretation of error, cognitive pen pene of students in various countries. He served in the Air Corps in WWII. He conducted research in both animal and human psychology. He was president of the American Educational Research Association and the Psychometric Society. The present report was undertaken to summarize the procedures which were developed and the problems which were encountered in the association Psychology Program of the Army Air Forces, and more particularly in that portion of it which was concerned with the selection and classification of personnel for aircrew assignment. An attempt was made to record the procedures and problems which seemed of general and continuing interest, so that the techniques and insights achieved in the war just past may be available to future students and workers in the field. The procedures, techniques, and insights which are reported here were the joint achievement of a great many people scattered throughout the Aviation Psychology Program. Except for a few brief sections written by Lt. Col. A. P. Horst, the report was written by the editor.…

This report deals with the weather and climate of the area included in pre-war Finland. In some sections it has been necessary to enlarge upon the area under discussion in order to bring out salient features of the general climatic controls. Since both the topography and the climate of Finland are remarkably homogeneous, no subdivision into geographical or climatic regions has been generally used.
