David Benedictus' first novel, The Fourth of June, was considered controversial upon publication in 1962 due to its descriptions of violent scenes of bullying and unrestrained class warfare at Eton College. It was adapted into a drama, produced in London in 1964 at the St Martin's Theatre.

Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with a hint of pushing to corners and a little pushing/rubbing/fading to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Pages bit tanned. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages.
