Original blue pictorial cloth, gilt, bookplate on front pastedown, lightly foxed but otherwise fine. xiv, 480, 2a (illustrator). Handsomely bound in finely ribbed blue cloth and stamped right with gilt decorations on the front cover. With a small snag (repaired) underneath Chronicles on the spine lettering. Very clean and tight; rear hinge separated in two places. Laid in is a two-page letter written in ink in the hand and signed by Robert P. Ashe (underscored). First Edition with 1894 old the title page.
