Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This textbook introduces the basis for modelling and analysing discrete dynamic systems, such as computer programmes, soft- and hardware systems, and business processes. The underlying concepts are introduced and concrete modelling techniques are described, such as finite automata, state machines, and Petri nets. The concepts are related to concrete application scenarios, among which business processes play a prominent role. The book consists of three parts, the first of which addresses the foundations of behavioural modelling. After a general introduction to modelling, it introduces transition systems as a basic formalism for representing the behaviour of discrete dynamic systems. This section also discusses causality, a fundamental concept for modelling and reasoning about behaviour. In turn, Part II forms the heart of the book and is devoted to models of behaviour. It details both sequential and concurrent systems and introduces finite automata, state machinesand several different types of Petri nets. One chapter is especially devoted to business process models, workflow patterns and BPMN, the industry standard for modelling business processes. Lastly, Part III investigates how the behaviour of systems can be analysed. To this end, it introduces readers to the concept of state spaces. Further chapters cover the comparison of behaviour and the formal analysis and verification of behavioural models. The book was written for students of computer science and software engineering, as well as for programmers and system analysts interested in the behaviour of the systems they work on. It takes readers on a journey from the fundamentals of behavioural modelling to advanced techniques for modelling and analysing sequential and concurrent systems, and thus provides them a deep understanding of the concepts and techniques introduced and how they can be applied to concrete application scenarios.

Hardback. Condition: New. In this volume, leading scholars from North America, Europe, and Asia come together to explore new dimensions of the business models topic paying particular attention to the modelling dimension - what this means, how modelling should be approached, how business models are manipulated, how they become iconic, and why they are embedded in heuristics. These ideas are a new departure for the literature that allows more solid theorizing about the role of business models in conceptions of strategy and strategizing. It also allows the demand side perspective (customers and their engagement) to become clearer, so linking academic writing more clearly to events in the digital economy. Our volume also examines business models and change. It explores how the business model perspective increases our understanding of micro and macro change processes - in particular, the critical question of how to achieve scale and scope, and the difference between social and other business models, how business models vary over the industry cycle and how different levels of management contribute to business model innovation.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Over the years, various Web application development approaches (WADAs) have been proposed with diverse development processes. However, these approaches focus more on design aspects instead of complete development cycle, specifically, on requirement engineering and related business modelling activities. This makes their development processes disintegrated causing delays and inaccuracies, while capturing and transforming rapidly changing business requirements into the system designs. Hence this research work contributes towards solving the problem of delays and inaccuracies while translating or assessing the effect of changing business requirements on Web applications supporting that business. Towards the solution, this research introduces a novel 'VIP business modelling framework' comprising three orthogonal models: (1) Business Value Model (BVM), (2) Business Information Model (BIM) and (3) Business Process Model (BPM). All the three models are specified through respective metamodels and lightweight UML 2 profiles. The framework proposes a methodology to systematically 'Develop' as well as 'Integrate' VIP Business Models to four influential WADAs, namely, OO-H, OOHDM, UWE & WebML.
