Paper Covered Boards. Condition: Good. No Jacket. The off white cover has the title in black with a man and his guitar a goose and a young person in black and orange line drawing and the spine has no title. The cover is user soiled with bumped corners and some shelf wear, the spine has cracked loose toward the back of the book, but it is holding in the front and is also soiled; the bottom edge has a brownish spot. The verse is by L. Frank Baum, the music is by Alberta N. Hall . The end papers are age yellowed with some light foxing, with no former owners' name. The title page has a wonderful black and white drawing of three children in clown outfits, on a black back drop, this page has a tear three quarters of the way across the page toward the spine, but does not compromise the picture or writing. There are wonderful drawings at each song and the pages are aged, but bright. Wm. W. Denslow (illustrator).

Hard Cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Reprint. Nonsense verse and illustrations from 'Father Goose: His Book', with new music by Hall. Undated reprint, circa 1920-1930. Hardcover, recently rebacked with tan cloth; covers chipped & stained, endsheets foxed, lengthy pencil note by bibliographer P[hilip] C. B[lackburn] explaining his belief that the book is a reprint because its pictures are poorly reproduced in b/w and rumors existed of copies with color plates (the illustrations in Father Goose WERE in color, but the George Hill first edition of this musical version (1900) seems to have had only b/w as well) Size: 8¾" by 11¼". Moderate to heavy age/use wear including splitting along spine edge, worn and exposed edges and corners, scuffs, light soils, etc. The book features 72 whimsical and lighthearted poems about various characters, including Father Goose, a mischievous boy named Jack Horner, a wise old owl, and a group of singing frogs. The poems use puns, nonsense words, and silly rhymes. Illustration: W. W. Denslow's illustrations were a major part of the book's success, noted for their quality and humor, far beyond other children's books of the era.
