Hardcover. Condition: Poor. This is an account of the Origin of the East India Company's Civil Service and of their College in Hertfordshire. The brown cloth covered boards are shelf worn and the spine is stained and damaged at the top. There is gilt titling on the spine and front board along with the crest, as well as gilding on the top edge. The boards remain well attached although the gutter cracks show binding. It is an ex library copy with all the usual marks and stamps. There are 3 fold out plans at the end in almost pristine condition and there are illustrations throughout the book, often sepia photographs. There its a comprehensive index. xxvii, 668pp .
