Studiile liceale le-a urmat la Cluj la Liceul "George Baritiu", iar facultatea de Filologie, româna-engleza, la Oradea (1969-1972). A fost profesor de limba si literatura româna, redactor al revistei Vatra între 1980-1981, bibliotecar la biblioteca medicala din Arad pâna în 1989. În 1990 fondeaza revista de cultura Arca din Arad, pe care o conduce si astazi. A debutat în Steaua în 1967, în numarul 6 al revistei, cu poezia "Clopote". Prezent în majoritatea revistelor literare din România. A debutat editorial cu Privelistile, versuri, la editura "Facla" din Timisoara în 1977 (premiul de debut al editurii). A publicat alte 16 volume de poezie, proza, microeseuri, antologii de autor. Premiul pentru Poezie al Uniunii Scriitorilor din România (2016). Marele premiu "Cununa de lauri" (ex aequo cu Aurel Pantea) la cea de a IV-a editie a Turnirului de Poezie organizat la Barcelona de Uniunea Scriitorilor din România (2014).
