Deze postuum verschenen uitgave bundelt een aantal historische bijdragen van Jef Van Dingenen over Staf De Clercq, het Vlaamsch Nationaal Verbond en de collaboratie tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De bijdragen waren oorspronkelijk verschenen in het tijdschrift Broederband tussen 1977 en 1984 en werden in 1995 samengebracht in boekvorm. De auteur, zelf voormalig VNV-kaderlid en na de oorlog actief binnen Broederband, behandelt de ontwikkeling van het VNV, de politieke koers van Staf De Clercq en verschillende aspecten van de collaboratie. Zijn straf werd later verminderd en in 1950 kwam hij vrij. Na de oorlog bleef Van Dingenen actief in Vlaams-nationalistische kringen. Hij was betrokken bij de oprichting van Broederband, werd hoofdredacteur van het gelijknamige tijdschrift en later voorzitter. Vanuit die omgeving publiceerde hij talrijke bijdragen over de Vlaamse Beweging, het VNV en de collaboratie.
