Neuware - Dans ce livre, Dominique Valbelle retrace le parcours qui l'a menée à la place influente qu'elle occupe aujourd'hui dans l'égyptologie française (et mème internationale). Comme tous les parcours d'exception, celui-ci n'était pas tracé d'avance. Ainsi, dans le Paris des années 60, on voit Do…minique Valbelle tentée par l'écriture dramatique et le cours Simon. Puis on la retrouve en licence de lettres modernes à la Sorbonne, où elle commence à s'orienter vers sa future discipline en obtenant un certificat d'égyptologie. Ce sera ensuite l'Ecole du Louvre, une thèse de doctorat consacrée à deux déesses de la première cataracte du Nil, puis les premières fouilles dans le Sinaï où elle s'impose comme une égyptologue de premier plan. Nous suivons au plus près ainsi ce qu'est le quotidien en archéologie: recherches, gestion des formalités, travail sur le terrain, protection des sites, menaces des pillards, etc. A travers un nombre considérable d'anecdotes et de portraits, nous entrons au coeur de l'Egypte de toujours. Et, dans un milieu généralement régi par les hommes, nous suivons le parcours inattendu et attachant d'une femme d'exception.
