Chavez committed a diabolical murder, the victim being Gregoria Rodriguez, a handsome young woman, with whom he had lived for some years. 1 His examination was held at Senator, but was not finished. Meantime. fearing a lynching, the officers brought Chavez down the river on. a raft and landed him in jail at Yuma. Chavez had left Senator after securing pay from the mining company, and returned on the 18th.
