One of Australias leading scholars and a highly distinguished professor of history, Marilyn Lake forged a career that spanned several decades across a number of universities. First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. For much of the twentieth century, the National Council of Women of Australia was the peak body representing women to government in Australia and, through the International Council of Women, to the world. The book, Respectable Radicals, tells the story of the history of the National Council from 1896 to 2006, and in effect traces the evolution of mainstream feminism. There is a note from a mother to her daughter, inside the front cover and on the frontispiece, explaining her connection to the book and she has placed an X against 2 names on page 476. The book is in nice condition EXCEPT for slight turning up of the corners.
