Second chapter explains the internet and its evolution. Third chapter gives the details of the various past studies carried out in India as well as abroad. Analysis of the data collected by distributing the questionnaires to the faculty members is analyzed in the chapter four. The analysis is done by using various statistical techniques. Moreover the relationship between faculty members' gender, age, years of experience, academic discipline, amount of computer education, computer access and the use of internet is found out. Fifth chapter gives the findings and testing of the hypotheses. Conclusions and suggestions are provided in the chapter six. These suggestions will help the librarians in the academic institutions to develop a system where there is no barrier in the fast and specific seeking of information by the faculty members. In the end bibliography has been provided.
