Hardcover. Condition: New. Rising to the China Challenge is a stellar contribution to India's rethinking of how to manage a more dangerous China. Conflict has resurfaced on the ChinaIndia border. The framework that had prevailed from 1988to proceed with deep engagement while the border issues lay unresolvedhas come to an end. The events of Doklam and Ladakh are not the end of this story. India now faces the prospect of a hostile relationship with China. This is not just a problem of sending troops to Ladakh; this is a problem that will play out on a strategic scale. It is difficult for India to navigate these waters, as China is substantially ahead of India in many aspects. Thinking about these questions and developing an intellectual framework for Indian strategy is very important in India today and will have an impact on a broad swathe of Indian policy planning. In Rising to the China Challenge Gautam Bambawale, Vijay Kelkar, R.A. Mashelkar, Ganesh Natarajan, Ajit Ranade and Ajay Shah, examine this problem from India's point of view, and develop the elements of the Indian strategic response. Their in-depth study of China and a compare-and-contrast with India in an array of practical areas, ranging from electric vehicles to taxation of corporations, establish the roadmap for the economic, diplomatic and military aspects of the bilateral relationship. This book represents a holistic picture that integrates these three diverse perspectives. Rising to the China Challenge is a call to action that policy planners will find invaluable while engaging in deep consultations and developing a pragmatic way forward.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. Microbiological Identification using MALDI-TOF and Tandem Mass Spectrometry Detailed resource presenting the capabilities of MALDI mass spectrometry (MS) to industrially and environmentally significant areas in the biosciences Microbiological Identification using MALDI-TOF and Tandem Mass Spectrometry fulfills a need to bring the key analytical technique of MALDI mass spectrometric analysis into routine practice by specialists and non-specialists, and technicians. It informs and educates established researchers on the development of techniques as applied to industrially significant areas within the biosciences. Throughout the text, the reader is presented with recognized and emerging techniques of this powerful and continually advancing field of analytical science to key areas of importance. While many scientific papers are reporting new applications of MS-based analysis in specific foci, this book is unique in that it draws together an incredibly diverse range of applications that are pushing the boundaries of MS across the broad field of biosciences. Contributed to by recognized experts in the field of MALDI MS who have been key players in promoting the advancement and dissemination of authoritative information in this field, Microbiological Identification using MALDI-TOF and Tandem Mass Spectrometry covers sample topics such as: Oil microbiology, marine and freshwater ecosystems, agricultural and food microbiology, and industrial waste microbiology Bioremediation and landfill sites microbiology, microbiology of inhospitable sites (e.g. Arctic and Antarctic, and alkaline and acidic sites, and hot temperatures) Veterinary, poultry and animals, viral applications of MS, and antibiotic resistance using tandem MS methods Recent developments which are set to transform the use of MS from its success in clinical microbiology to a wide range of commercial and environmental uses Bridging the gap between measurement and key applications, this text is an ideal resource for industrial and environmental analytical scientists, including technologists in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, as well as biomedical scientists, researchers, clinicians and academics and scientists in bio-resource centers. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Moore s law suggests that the number of transistors which can be economically fabricated on a chip exponentially increases with time, traditionally this has been done by simple scaling of the channel within metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs). However, this approach is fast reaching fundamental limitations, which necessitates the substitution of different materials in traditional silicon devices to enhance their performance. A high composition (x0.75) Si1-xGex alloy layer can be used as a buffer layer for such materials. However, buffers normally consist of a trade-off between structural quality factors and the physical attributes of any active channel layer are directly affected by those of the buffer which must not compromise device performance. In this work, a good quality high Ge composition SiGe buffer is investigated and is compared to more popular buffer fabrication techniques. All aspects from epitaxial growth to structural characterisation are explained from basic principles and should be useful for anyone in the semiconductor industry to gain a grasp of structural analysis which is typical for this field of research. 216 pp. Englisch.
