'Trockne Blumen' ist das achtzehnte Lied im Zyklus 'Die schöne Müllerin' (D 795) - komponiert im Herbst 1823. Im Januar 1824, noch bevor alle Müller-Lieder veröffentlicht waren (Sommer 1824), entstanden Thema und Variationen e-moll für Flöte und Klavier, denen Schubert eine gewichtige Introduktion voranstellte. Das Werk blieb Schuberts einzige und einzigartige Virtuosenkomposition für Flötisten. Unerhört schwer zu blasen und übrigens auch zum Teil äußert heikel auf dem Klavier zu 'begleiten'. Schuberts vielfach eigenhändig überarbeitete Handschrift ist die einzig verbindliche Quellengrundlage für den Urtext, denn sein Autograph diente nachweislich als Stichvorlage für den postum veröffentlichten Erstdruck. Eine der Variationen strich er komplett wieder aus - die Henle-Urtextausgabe gibt sie, mehr zu Informationszwecken als zur Aufführung gedacht, im Anhang wieder.

Neuware - Good intentions are simply not good enough (to freely paraphrase Kurt Tucholsky): the arpeggione, a kind of hybrid instrument like a large bowed guitar, never won acceptance among musicians. This curiosity of instrumental engineering would certainly have long since been consigned to oblivio…n had not Franz Schubert of all people composed his A minor sonata for it. This three-movement work is now truly immortal, but at the same time presents a problem as an Urtext because the original arpeggione part cannot be performed on those instruments that most closely approximate its sound - clearly the viola or violoncello - without some interventions in the text. G. Henle Verlag solves the dilemma on the one hand by setting the arpeggione Urtext part above the original piano part (score), and on the other by clearly denoting the few necessary octave shifts in the included instrumental parts. Out of the question for the publisher was a transcription for another instrument such as the violin (as was included in Diabelli's posthumous first edition), flute, or other high melodic instrument, because these are simply too far removed from the sound Schubert had in mind. At best, a contrabass part might still work. Or . Read more about this edition in the Henle Blog.; Une bonne intention n'est jamais assez bonne (d'après Kurt Tucholsky): l'Arpeggione, cette sorte d'hybride - une grande guitare frottée par un archet - n'a jamais réussi à s'imposer auprès des musiciens. Cette curiosité organologique serait certainement déjà tombée depuis longtemps dans l'oubli le plus total si précisément Franz Schubert n'avait pas composé sa sonate en La mineur pour cet instrument. Et cette oeuvre en trois mouvements est vraiment immortelle. Mais elle pose aussi un problème pour l'Urtext, car sans certaines interventions dans le texte, la partie d'arpeggione originale ne pourrait être exécutée sur l'instrument le plus proche au niveau du timbre, à savoir l'alto ou le violoncelle. La maison d'édition G. Henle résout ainsi le dilemme: d'une part, la partie d'arpeggione originale est superposée à la partie de piano originale (partition), de l'autre, dans la partie séparée jointe à la partition les rares changements d'octaves indispensables sont clairement indiqués. Il était hors de question pour nous d'envisager une autre partie - le violon par exemple (comme dans l'édition Diabelli parue après la mort du compositeur), la flûte ou tout autre instrument mélodique à tessiture aiguë - car toutes ces alternatives s'écartent trop des représentations de timbre que pouvait avoir Schubert. Dieses instrumententechnische Kuriosum wäre freilich längst in völlige Vergessenheit geraten, wenn nicht ausgerechnet Franz Schubert seine a-moll-Sonate dafür komponiert hätte. Und dieses dreisätzige Werk ist nun wirklich unsterblich. Aber gleichzeitig ein Problem für den Urtext, denn ohne einige Eingriffe in den Text ließe sich der originale Arpeggione-Part nicht auf den ihm klanglich am nächsten kommenden Instrumenten - zweifellos Viola oder Violoncello - ausführen. Der G. Henle Verlag löst das Dilemma, indem einerseits die Arpeggione-Urtextstimme der originalen Klavierstimme (Partitur) überlegt ist, andererseits in der beigelegten Spielstimme die wenigen notwendigen Oktavumlegungen eindeutig gekennzeichnet sind. Nicht in Betracht kam für den Verlag eine andere Bearbeitungsstimme etwa Violine (wie sie der postumen Erstausgabe Diabellis beiliegt), Flöte oder andere hohe Melodieinstrumente, weil diese doch zu weit weg sind von Schuberts Klangvorstellungen. Bestenfalls käme wohl noch eine Kontrabass-Stimme in Frage. Oder Mehr zu dieser Ausgabe im.
