The original beige cloth is in very good shape,… with corners sharp and red lettering still clear on the gently bumped spine. The off-white interior has remained bright despite offsetting to the endpapers from the dustjacket flaps; and some freckles on the text-block edges. There is scattered penciling on about a dozen pages left by my father, professor of philosophy for nearly fifty years. The original dust jacket is still here, unclipped (12s. 6d.), slightly worn, with all text still clearly legible. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] "Most people are aware that the poetry of Baudelaire and the life and writings of Rimbaud have an importance outside literature, for they were the first to see how much the human soul had been forfeiting.
