Sulla base dei chiarimenti apportati da René Guénon in merito ai rapporti normali e legittimi fra un esoterismo e l'essoterismo da cui il primo dipende, Jean Reyor mostra come il disconoscimento della specifica natura della Chiesa Cattolica e della Massoneria offuschi i giudizi e renda inaccettabili le soluzioni suggerite, inidonee dunque al superamento del problema degli attuali rapporti fra queste due organizzazioni. In compenso, Jean Reyor illustra scrupolosamente la questione, precisandone in particolare i fondamenti tradizionali universali, a partire dai quali dev'essere esaminato questo annoso problema.
