XV Seiten Text, gefolgt von 15 farbigen Tafeln. Eine kleine Schadstelle im Vorderdeckel zieht sich als 1 cm langer feiner Einriss über alle Textseiten, bis über etwa die Hälfte der Tafeln. Vortitelblatt mit dreizeiliger privater Widmung in schwarzem Stift, die Textseiten sind an wenigen Stellen schwach randfleckig. Previous owner's bookplate. Some pencil annitations in the margin of the preliminary text. Plates all clean and vibrant. Very good condition 24 large colour plates of roses by Pierre Joseph Redouté (1759 - 1840), who has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. This is another selection of a further variety of roses, following Ariel Press's publication of "Roses" in 1954. In her introduction, Eva Mannering writes of the mythology and folklore surrounding roses.
