Reginald Jacques was also conductor of the Oxford Orchestra Society from 1930 to 1936. From 1931 to 1960 he was conductor of The Bach Choir in London. In 1936 he founded his own Jacques Orchestra, which he conducted until 1960. In 1954 he was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He died in 1969. John Rutter was born in London in 1945 and studied music at Clare College, Cambridge. His compositions embrace choral, orchestral, and instrumental music, and he has edited or co-edited various choral anthologies, including four Carols for Choirs volumes with Sir David Willcocks and the Oxford Choral Classics series. From 1975 to 1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College, and in 1981 he formed his own choir, the Cambridge Singers. He now divides his time between composition and conducting and is sought after as a guest conductor for the world's leading choirs and orchestras. Born in 1919, David Willcocks began his musical career as a chorister at Westminster Abbey, later winning scholarships to Clifton College and King's College, Cambridge. Following war service, he was elected Fellow of King's College, and later became Organist of Salisbury & Worcester Cathedrals, conducting the Three Choirs Festival whilst at Worcester. Willcocks returned to King's College, Cambridge as Director of Music from 1957-1974, with the first collection of his arrangements in the Carols for Choirs series publishing in 1961. He was Director of Music at the Royal College of Music from 1974-1984, died 2015 ; FINE. Book.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - A royal tapestry, a kidnapped child, a 3000-year-old Biblical relic. These were not what archaeology professor Mikkel Jacobsen was expecting when he surveyed the ruins of Sheffield Manor, in the spring of 1916. As head of the new humanities faculty at the university, he has been called on to verify an exciting find-a tapestry, rumoured to have belonged to the imprisoned Mary Queen of Scots. Woven into the stitching is a coded message, sent from her grandmother, Antoinette de Bourbon. It hints at the whereabouts of a Biblical relic that should have changed the course of Mary's history. The relic has an appointment with the future, and in the wrong hands will bring death and destruction. Follow the professor and his friends as they join in a dangerous race to find and protect the relic from malevolent forces.'Stones of Wrath-The Tapestry' is a novel filled with suspense, mystery, romance, and history. The international historical adventure is the first in this breakthrough series by author SJ Ratcliffe.SJ Ratcliffe is the winner of a 5-Star 'Highly Recommended' Award of excellence from The Historical Fiction Company, USA and the 2025 Winter Pencraft Award for Christian Fiction. Her work has been recognised in the NSW Parliament, 2024.\*\*\*\*\*'I was impressed by the authors ability to create vivid sense of place by referencing dolmens which are explicitly mentioned in the scriptures. I appreciated the complexity of the historical threads in the novel format, where the different elements come neatly together. The book would appeal not only to the adventurous, historical mystery seeker and romantic, but also to the reader who seeks to bring an obscure piece of history to life.'Prof (Dr) WA Liebenberg.
