Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an in-depth analysis of the European exploration of New Zealand, from the initial Maori settlement through the arrival of the British colonists in 1840. The author has undertaken extensive research using letters, journals, and official documents to capture the excitement and hardship of this transformative period from both the European and Maori perspectives. It traces the impact of European colonisation on the indigenous Maori people, the complexities of their interactions, and the ultimate shaping of the nation that exists today. Comprehensive and engaging, this book not only gives readers a strong foundation in New Zealand's early history, but also prompts reflection on the broader impact of colonialism and its historical legacies. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
