La première conférence de ce livre s'intitule : Nos femmes depuis la bicyclette. Ce texte d'un féminisme rare venant d'un homme à cette période est exceptionnel et mérite d'être connu. En parlant de la bicyclette : Mères et filletes, grand-mères et enfants, petites bourgeoises et grandes dames, toutes les femmes en un élan irrestible, accoururent au sport nouveau. Elles lui apportèrent la grâce et le charme, il leur donna la force et la santé., il leur donna, en quelques coups de pédale, ce que soixante années de propagande anglo-américaine n'avaient pu obtenir : Le costume rationnel ! . La culotte, emblème de l'égalité avec l'homme, la culotte, symbole de la force et du pouvoir, la culotte, depuis si longtemps désirée et enfin conquise !
