The binding is very sound. The full title of this publication is: The History of Statistics in the 17th & 18th Centuries - against the changing background of intellectual, scientific and religious thought. The book contains lectures by Karl Pearson - University College London 1921-1933 academic sessions. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Printed in Great Britain. Date on the title page. First Printing. Frontispiece Portrait plus Eight Plates, Preface, Foreword, Epilogue, Bibliography, Six Appendices; viii, 170 pages. Please NOTE---This book is of mixed condition: The original dark blue cloth has superficial scuffing to both boards, bumped corner tips, and the rear joint has been reinforced with white archival tape, tinted blue. Nevertheless, the binding is secure and gilt lettering is clear on the spine which has some fraying at both ends. [Visible in my five images of the actual book.] The interior is very good except for light toning, mostly on the endpapers; there are only two marks in the entire book---thin lines in pen alongside two paragraphs. From the Epilogue: "In the course of this survey we have seen Pearson from many aspects, as the historian, the writer on folklore, the socialist, the applied mathematician who discussed problems of elasticity and engineering and theories of atomic structure, as the author of 'The Grammar of Science,' as the biometrician, statistician and eugenist, as the teacher and the biographer. . . ." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
