Ringleb studierte an der Universität Jena und der Friedrichs-Universität Halle Medizin. Ab 1898 war er Mitglied der Corps Guestphal…ia Jena und Borussia Halle. Ringleb begründete die Endoskopie der Harnblase. Ab 1924 war er a.o. Professor und ab 1937 o. Professor an der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin. Dort war er Inhaber des ersten deutschen Lehrstuhls für Urologie. An der Berliner Charité leitete er die Urologische Abteilung. Zu seinen Schülern gehörte unter anderem Karl Heusch. Zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus war er Mitglied der SS und stieg in dieser Organisation 1944 bis zum SS-Oberführer auf. (Wikipedia) Sprache: deutsch.

"Gerade die vorbildliche Hingabe an sein Arbeitsgerät und die Gewandtheit in selbstersonnenen Vorstellungen, worin er (Maximillian Nitze (1848-1906)) seine Schüler und Mitarbeit…er am Werk so weit übertraf, machte es dem Begründer unseres Sonderfachs schwer, sich die schon bestehende Lehre von der Bilderzeugung in optischen Instrumenten anzueignen. Für diese Auffassung kann seine gänzlich vereinzelte und in ihrer Anwendung verfehlte Verwertung des Begriffs der Eintrittspupille (2. Aufl. S. 18e u. ff.) eben als ein Musterbeispiel angeführt werden. Im Gegensatz dazu habe ich seit 1907, dem Anfangsjahre meiner eigenen Betätigung auf diesem Gebiet, die Notwendigkeit eingesehen, mich mehr und mehr in das weit geförderte Bauwerk der optischen Lehre nach ERNST ABBE und seinen Schülern einzuleben. Die beiden Hauptziele meiner Tätigkeit sind mir dann bald kenntlich geworden: die Einreihung des Kystoskops in die Gesellschaft der älteren optischen Instrumente, womit zugleich auch die Art der von ihm zu fordernden Leistungen, umgrenzt wurde, und die Stellung bestimmter Aufgaben im Rahmen dieser Leistungen, wonach neuartige Anlagen zu erfolgreicher Lösung eben dieser Aufgaben geplant werden konnten. In beiden Richtungen bin ich von einem der älteren Schüler ERNST ABEES, von meinem Lehrer und Freunde Moritz von ROHR (1868-1940) in Jena, gefördert worden, wie ich das in früheren Schriften hervorgehoben habe und auch jetzt wieder deutlich betonen möchte. Meine häufigen und eingehenden Unterhaltungen mit einem für unser Gerät Verständnis und Teilnahme zeigenden Theoretiker, der gerade auf dem Gebiete der Strahlenbegrenzung mit bemerkenswertem Erfolge gearbeitet hat, kamen der Klärung meiner Ansichten zustatten, und ich darf hoffen, Lernbeflissenen eine verständliche Darstellung zu bieten."
