Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. American photographer Jerry N. Uelsmann (1934-2022) was a seminal figure in photo history. Uelsmann catalysed the transfer from modernist to post-modern photography with his at the time controversial photo montages and double exposures. Decades before the birth of digital image editing programs like Photoshop, Uelsmann created photo montages by combining several negatives in the darkroom. He started to create his surreal, spiritual, and thought-provoking images in the late 1950s and continued to produce them, completely analogue, throughout his life. This first biography, written by Swedish photography historian Moa Petersen who was a close friend of Uelsmann's, addresses his role as disruptor of the traditional straight photography paradigm and the historical context that shaped him. Several of the included images are published here for the first time. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condition: New. This book is an investigation of the Swedish microchipping phenomenon and seeks to explain why, despite its many negative connotations in an international context, microchipping is relatively popular in Sweden. The author maps out the movement, examines its key drivers, and delves further to discover why Swedes generally have a high trust in technology, and show little resistance to testing it. The Swedish case is studied from the three main themes of surveillance, science fiction and transhumanism, and is built around interviews with Swedes who have embraced the technology. The arguments for and against microchipping are contextualised culturally and explained against a background of the long established Swedish relationship with advanced technology, and with their unique level of trust in the government. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate students in digital culture related disciplines.

Buch. Condition: Neu.
