"James Simon (1851-1932), vermögender Baumwollhändler aus Berlin, war einer jeneren Mäzene, deren kulturelles und soziales Engagement auch heute wieder gefragt wäre. Der kunstbeflissene Großkaufmann setzte seine Finanzkraft dort ein, wo der Preußische Staat oft passen musste. So schuf er - zunächst in Absprache mit Wilhelm von B…ode, später auch auf eigene Faust - eine der bedeutendsten Berliner Privatsammlungen, die er zu einem großen Teil den Berliner Museen vermachte. Als Begründer der Deutschen Orient-Gesellschaft finanzierte er darüber hinaus die archäologischen Grabungen im ägyptischen Tell el-Amarna, bei denen u.a. die berühmte Büste der Nofretete geborgen wurde, die Simon 1920 dem Ägyptischen Museum schenkte" (Verlagstext).

The experiments show the benefit of using fine bubbles by reaching significantly higher mass transfer rates compared to conventional aeration. Especially stirred tank reactors prove to be most suitable for fine bubble aeration. Finally, models are developed, describing the mass transfer characteristics at microscales. 154 pp. Englisch.
