Popular song written by Eric Maschwitz (1901-1969) with music by Manning Sherwin (1912-1974), first introduced in the London musical revue "New Faces" in 1940. The song became an enduring standard of the World War II era and is closely associated with Glenn Miller, whose portrait appears on the cover. The work evokes wartime London romance and nostalgia and remains one of the most recognizable British popular songs of the period.
