While she began keeping diaries in 1915, this edition contains excerpts from August 1918 where, in referring to Katherine Mansfield, Woolf writes, "I threw down BLISS with the exclamation, 'She's done for!' . I shall have to accept the fact, I am afraid, that her mind is very thin soil, laid an inch or two deep upon very barren rock," to Sunday, March 8, 1941, "Occupation is essential.
