Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The battlefield of the 21st century is increasingly shaped by the relentless march of artificial intelligence. From sophisticated intelligence analysis and logistics optimization to the potential for autonomous weapon systems, AI is poised to fundamentally alter the character of military operations. At the heart of this transformation lies the complex domain of command and control (C2), the intricate web of people, processes, and technologies that enables military forces to achieve their objectives. As AI systems become more capable, the traditional boundaries of human decision-making authority in C2 are being challenged. The ability of AI to process vast datasets, identify patterns invisible to human observers, and react at speeds far exceeding human capacity presents both immense opportunities and significant risks. This book directly confronts the imperative to understand and manage these emerging dynamics, focusing on the critical need for dynamic autonomy management in military C2. We argue that current frameworks for human-AI interaction are insufficient to address the complexities of modern warfare, where the optimal allocation of decision authority between human commanders and intelligent machines must be fluid, context-aware, and empirically validated. This introduction sets the stage by outlining the evolution of military C2, the rise of AI in this domain, and the strategic landscape of autonomous weapons. It will articulate the central problem this book seeks to address: the lack of robust, theoretically sound, and empirically tested methods for dynamically managing the degree of autonomy in military systems, ensuring that human judgment remains central to ethical and effective military action. We will explore the theoretical foundations that inform our understanding of human-AI teaming, delve into the current state of autonomous weapons, and critically examine the concept of Meaningful Human Control. This work is intended for a discerning audience of academic researchers and senior defense analysts, those who possess a deep understanding of AI, military strategy, human-factors engineering, and international security. Our aim is to provide a rigorous, analytical, and policy-relevant exploration of how to navigate the challenges and harness the potential of AI in military command and control responsibly. The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is not merely an incremental technological evolution; it represents a paradigm shift with far-reaching consequences for virtually every aspect of human endeavor, and perhaps nowhere more acutely than in the realm of military command and control (C2). As AI capabilities mature, their integration into military systems promises unprecedented speed, precision, and analytical power, yet simultaneously introduces profound challenges related to human oversight, ethical considerations, and strategic stability. This book emerges from a perceived critical gap in our understanding and frameworks for managing the dynamic interplay between human judgment and machine autonomy in high-stakes military operations. While substantial research exists on the technical facets of AI and the principles of human factors, a cohesive, empirically grounded approach to dynamically allocating decision authority between humans and AI within military C2 structures remains elusive. This work aims to synthesize existing knowledge, explore theoretical underpinnings, analyze current trends, and propose a path forward for establishing effective and responsible human-AI command and control. We endeavor to bridge the divide between academic research, defense analysis, and practical policy development, providing a resource for those tasked with shaping the future of warfare in an age of intelligent machines. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The human experience, in its vibrant complexity, has long been a subject of fascination and profound inquiry. We are beings who navigate a physical reality governed by discoverable laws, yet we are also creatures of consciousness, emotion, belief, and spirit. For centuries, these dimensions have often been treated as separate domains, studied by distinct disciplines with specialized methodologies. Science has meticulously mapped the biological machinery of the body and brain, while theology and spirituality have explored the inner landscape of meaning, purpose, and connection to the transcendent. Yet, a growing awareness suggests that these domains are not as separate as they might appear. Quantum Psychoneuroimmunotheology (QPNIT) is conceived as a transdisciplinary framework designed to illuminate the profound interconnections that exist between psychological states, physiological processes (particularly immune function), and spiritual experiences, all viewed through the lens of quantum reality. This book embarks on a journey to articulate a vision where the seemingly separate aspects of human existence are understood as deeply interwoven facets of a single, dynamic whole. We begin by acknowledging the limitations of purely reductionist approaches, which often struggle to account for the subjective nature of consciousness, the power of intention, or the holistic impact of spiritual practices on well-being. In contrast, QPNIT proposes an integrative paradigm that posits consciousness and the fundamental fabric of reality are intimately linked, potentially through quantum phenomena. This initial exploration aims to stimulate intellectual curiosity about the nature of interconnectedness that QPNIT seeks to uncover, highlighting the imperative for a more holistic understanding of human existence and its place within the cosmos. As we delve into the subsequent chapters, we will meticulously examine the foundational principles of holism and non-reductionism, explore the bidirectional causal pathways between mind and body, and investigate the implications of quantum non-locality and interconnectedness. We will further consider information and meaning as causal factors, posit consciousness as a quantum interface, and explore quantum biology's role in immune function, the biological effects of spiritual practices, and the non-local properties of consciousness in healing. Ultimately, QPNIT offers a compelling theoretical model for understanding human health and well-being, grounded in empirical evidence and open to the deepest questions of existence, paving the way for a richer, more integrated understanding of ourselves and the universe we inhabit. While disciplines like neuroscience and immunology have unveiled intricate mechanisms of the human body and mind, a persistent sense of fragmentation often remains. Reductionist paradigms, though powerful, frequently fall short of capturing the holistic essence of human experience, particularly concerning consciousness, subjective well-being, and the undeniable influence of spiritual practices on health. This book emerges from a deep-seated conviction that a more integrated understanding is not only possible but essential. It is an invitation to explore a novel theoretical framework, Quantum Psychoneuroimmunotheology (QPNIT), which endeavors to weave together threads from seemingly disparate fields: the enigmatic world of quantum physics, the intricate pathways of psychoneuroimmunology, and the rich tapestry of theological and spiritual traditions. We are driven by the hypothesis that the universe, at its most fundamental level, is interconnected in ways that transcend classical physical descriptions. QPNIT suggests that consciousness itself may play a more active role in reality than conventionally assumed, potentially interfacing with biological systems through quantum phenomena Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability. …

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This book is an exploration of the synergy between AI's capacity for personalized adaptation and intelligent support, and gamification's inherent ability to motivate, engage, and create intrinsically rewarding learning experiences. We are not merely presenting theoretical concepts; we are delving into the practical applications, the design principles, and the ethical considerations that underpin the creation of AI-powered gamified learning environments. Our aim is to equip educational technologists, instructional designers, curriculum developers, researchers, and forward-thinking educators with the knowledge and inspiration needed to harness these technologies effectively. We believe that by thoughtfully integrating AI and gamification, we can move beyond one-size-fits-all approaches to create learning journeys that are as unique, dynamic, and engaging as the learners themselves. This is an invitation to reimagine education, to build systems that not only impart knowledge but also cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a genuine love for learning. The quest to enhance student engagement and optimize learning outcomes has long been a central challenge in education. While pedagogical strategies have evolved, the fundamental difficulty remains: how do we create learning experiences that are consistently captivating, deeply personalized, and effectively tailored to the unique needs and motivations of each learner? In recent years, two transformative forces have emerged with the potential to address this challenge head-on: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and gamification. Artificial Intelligence, with its capacity for complex data analysis, pattern recognition, and intelligent adaptation, offers the promise of understanding individual learners at a granular level. It can identify knowledge gaps, assess understanding in real-time, and adjust content and pacing to match a student's unique learning trajectory. Imagine a high school physics student struggling with Newton's laws. An AI-powered gamified system might detect this difficulty through a series of interactive problems and, rather than presenting the next complex topic, offer a visually engaging simulation of classical mechanics, breaking down the concepts into smaller, more digestible challenges with immediate feedback, akin to a skilled tutor recognizing a student's pause and offering a clarifying analogy. Complementing AI's analytical power is gamification, the art and science of applying game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. Gamification leverages intrinsic motivators such as achievement, competition, collaboration, and exploration to make learning more enjoyable and compelling. By integrating elements like points, badges, leaderboards, and engaging narratives, gamification can transform mundane tasks into exciting challenges, fostering sustained engagement and encouraging persistence. This book explores the profound synergy that arises when these two powerful forces are combined. We delve into how AI can drive adaptive learning pathways, create emotion-aware tutors, personalize gamification mechanics through reinforcement learning, and generate dynamic storytelling within educational games. We also examine the critical aspects of ethical AI, bias mitigation, and the design of effective AI-powered gamified assessments. This work is intended for educational technologists, instructional designers, AI researchers in education, curriculum developers, and educators across K-12 and higher education who are eager to innovate. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive yet accessible guide that bridges theoretical understanding with practical application, empowering you to design and implement AI-gamified learning experiences that captivate learners and elevate educational outcomes. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The tapestry of human experience is woven with threads of both exhilarating success and profound disappointment. In a world that often fixates on the outward markers of achievement - the accolades, the promotions, the visible signs of triumph - it is easy to lose sight of a deeper, more enduring understanding of what it means to truly win. This book is born from a deep conviction, rooted in scripture and observed in countless lives, that the Christian perspective on victory and defeat offers a transformative lens through which to navigate the complexities of our journeys. We are called to a victory that transcends the fleeting applause of the crowd and the fluctuating fortunes of circumstance. It is a victory that is cultivated not in the absence of struggle, but in the faithful embrace of God's will, even when it leads through hardship. We will delve into pivotal biblical accounts, examining how figures like David, Paul, and even Christ Himself, experienced and understood victory in ways that often defy worldly conventions. Their lives teach us that true triumph can be found in obedience amidst persecution, in faith during famine, and in enduring suffering with steadfast hope. Conversely, we will also consider instances where worldly success masked spiritual deficiency, highlighting the crucial distinction between superficial achievement and genuine spiritual victory. This exploration will move beyond theoretical concepts to offer practical strategies for cultivating a resilient faith, maintaining integrity in both success and failure, and fostering a Christ-like attitude that honors God in every season. Ultimately, we aspire for readers to understand that the most profound victory is not the absence of struggle, but the presence of God's grace and the growth of His kingdom within and through us, a victory that echoes into eternity. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The journey through the aftermath of childhood trauma is often a solitary and bewildering one. It is a path fraught with emotional pain, psychological distress, and, for many, a profound sense of spiritual disorientation. This book emerges from a deep wellspring of empathy for those who have navigated such harrowing experiences, particularly when the echoes of neglect and abuse have seemingly invaded the very core of their spiritual being. We have witnessed, both clinically and through sacred texts, how early wounds can create fissures in the soul, making individuals susceptible to influences that seek to exploit their pain and deepen their despair. It is a delicate and often misunderstood intersection - the place where psychological fragmentation meets spiritual vulnerability, where the impact of earthly betrayals can manifest as a perceived war within the spiritual realm. This work is an invitation to understand this nexus, not as a testament to inescapable darkness, but as a map towards profound healing and reclamation. It is written with the conviction that even the deepest wounds can be mended, that the fragmented self can be made whole, and that the sacred within can be rediscovered and re-established. Our aim is to offer a compassionate and scholarly exploration, bridging the insights of psychology with the timeless wisdom of spiritual traditions, to illuminate pathways toward liberation and lasting peace for survivors, and to equip those who minister to them with a deeper understanding of the intricate battle for the soul. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The interwar period in Hungary, a landscape carved by the profound scars of the Great War and the subsequent Treaty of Trianon, was an era defined by a potent cocktail of national trauma, fervent revisionism, and a desperate search for stability and renewed national pride. Within this complex milieu, the establishment of the Vitezi Rend in 1920 emerged not merely as a governmental decree, but as a deliberate and significant act aimed at rekindling the flame of Hungarian chivalric tradition in a modern guise. This book seeks to unravel the multifaceted story of this unique institution, exploring its genesis, its evolution, and its indelible mark upon Hungarian society and national identity. We delve into the political currents that shaped its formation, examining the roles of figures like Count Istvan Bethlen, who recognized the power of symbolic institutions in national consolidation. The very concept of the 'Vitez' itself is interrogated, moving beyond a simple definition of heroism to understand its reimagined significance within the Order's framework - a blend of martial prowess, unwavering loyalty, and dedicated service to the nation. The influence of historical knightly orders, particularly those of the Habsburg Empire, is considered, not as a simple imitation, but as a source of inspiration that was carefully adapted to assert a distinct Hungarian identity. Admiral Miklos Horthy's pivotal role as Captain of the Order, a position that intertwined his personal authority with the institution's prestige, is meticulously examined. We explore how the 'Vitezi Telek' policy, the allocation of land grants, aimed to reshape social structures and reward merit. The ceremonial life, the propaganda efforts, and the eventual dissolution of the Order amidst the cataclysm of World War II and its aftermath are all brought into sharp focus. Furthermore, the narrative extends to the Order's existence in exile and its eventual revival in post-communist Hungary, demonstrating its enduring, albeit transformed, legacy. This is a journey through a critical chapter of Hungarian history, offering insights into the enduring power of tradition, the complexities of national identity, and the profound ways in which societies seek to honor their heroes and preserve their heritage. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - This dissertation investigates a phenomenon that readers have long sensed but scholarship has rarely measured: the presence of humor in the Christian Bible. Although a scattered tradition of literary study has argued that irony, wordplay, satire, and comic reversal pervade both Testaments, the field has lacked a shared taxonomy, a reproducible discovery procedure, and any formal estimate of how reliably readers can agree on what counts as humor. I address these gaps through a sequential mixed-methods design that braids together three complementary strands of evidence. First, a literary-critical close reading of the secondary literature yields a corpus of 85 candidate humor passages drawn from 15 biblical books and classified with an eight-category codebook spanning wordplay or paronomasia, hyperbole, satire or parody, verbal irony, situational irony, dramatic irony, absurdity or the grotesque, and comic reversal. The distribution across categories is far from uniform, indicating that certain comic mechanisms dominate the canon. Second, a corpus-based computational strand runs lemma-based root-repetition procedures over the BHSA Hebrew and MorphGNT Greek corpora, surfacing 3,037 unfiltered candidate repetitions from 17,176 Hebrew words. Third, a simulated annotation exercise (Monte Carlo, seed 42) models three annotators across the 85 passages and returns modest chance-corrected agreement for humor type alongside a striking split between low presence agreement by kappa and high agreement by prevalence-adjusted AC1 (.876). Reading these results together produces the study's central theoretical contribution: an observable-interpretive continuum that explains why humor identification is simultaneously easy and hard, and why simple reliability coefficients mislead when comic signals are rare and interpretive. A translation-comparison analysis shows how fragile these signals are, with the Isaac laughter pun preserved in only 29.7% of surveyed English renderings and the Eglon episode in 20.0%, while cross-strand convergence reaches just 7.9%. Adopting a critical-realist stance, I argue that biblical humor is a real feature of the text that our instruments only partially detect, and that honest measurement of that partiality is itself a scholarly gain.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - The twenty-first century is defined by our pervasive reliance on digital infrastructure. From powering our homes and economies to facilitating global communication and governance, these interconnected systems form the bedrock of modern society. Yet, this digital foundation is under constant siege. The evolution of cyber threats has outpaced traditional defense mechanisms, characterized by an alarming increase in their speed, sophistication, and scale. Adversaries, ranging from nation-states to sophisticated criminal organizations, are continuously developing novel methods to exploit vulnerabilities, disrupt services, and compromise sensitive data. The potential impact of a successful attack on critical national infrastructure-such as the energy grid, financial markets, or transportation networks-could be devastating, jeopardizing national security, economic stability, and public safety. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged not merely as a technological advancement, but as a critical determinant in the future of cybersecurity and national security. Among the most promising AI paradigms for tackling these complex challenges is Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). DRL enables systems to learn optimal strategies through trial-and-error interactions with their environment, a process that mimics human learning and adaptation. This capability holds immense potential for developing dynamic, adaptive, and intelligent cybersecurity solutions capable of detecting novel threats, responding autonomously to incidents, and continuously improving defensive postures. Imagine an AI agent learning to play a complex game not by being programmed with every possible move, but by playing millions of games, learning from its successes and failures. This is the essence of DRL, and it is precisely this learning capability that we aim to harness for defense. However, the very power that makes DRL a compelling tool for defense also makes it a formidable weapon in the hands of adversaries. AI can be leveraged to automate vulnerability discovery, create evasive malware, and orchestrate highly coordinated and intelligent cyberattacks. Understanding this dual-use nature is paramount for national security policymakers and cybersecurity practitioners.
