So looks like dedication from the author. The Rev. Charles Hawley, was the Rector of the parish,who discovered the shrines while restoring the plaster and executing some repairs in the north aisle of the church. Later in 1874 his brother Sir Joseph Hawley (1813-1875) paid for the restoration of the church. the Revd. Charles Hawley, was also the Hon. Canon of Rochester, The Hawley family still holds the patronage. Condition Maroon hard back binding in fair/poor condition as lacks spine & covers fair, some rubbing etc. (see scans).
